Our Tutors

We carefully recruit and train tutors who will teach and inspire their students to the highest standards.

We are very conscious of both the security of our schools and the safety of our students. As such, we make careful checks for each tutor's suitability for the post, including an enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

You can find out more about some of our team on our teachers page.

Well balanced and enjoyable courses

We aim to provide well balanced and enjoyable courses that develop skills across the full range of genres and playing styles for the instrument.

Students reaching the end of any of our Junior Trainer courses are fully prepared to move on to graded syllabuses that we use from Trinity Guildhall, Rockschool and the Associated Board.

Free demonstrations...

More than simply providing lessons at our schools we take an active part in driving the interest in music in every one.

By providing regular demonstration assemblies for the instruments we teach at your school free of charge, we aim to inspire as many children as possible to get into music, and hopefully learn to play themselves.

Instrumental Roadshows

Studies have shown that the numbers of children beginning instrumental tuition at key stage 3 and 4 are falling due to the increased pressures of their academic work.

Through our instrumental roadshows, we aim to provide more musical opportunities at Key Stage 2 and support the Music Manifesto's pledge of...

"Making every child's music matter".

We are usually able to allocate funding to deliver the Roadshow at no cost to the school. Through our exiting demonstrations, we aim to inspire the children to want to play, practice and most of all perform on a musical instrument.

We also organize the provision of lessons at the school for any children who have been inspired by what they have seen!

… always very exiting for the children!

Demonstrations normally last around 30 minutes and are highly participative…. and always very exiting for the children!

The demonstrations show many different aspects of playing the instrument, including the various different genres of music it is used in, specific techniques and music reading etc. We also explain to the children during the demonstration how much dedication and commitment learning a musical instrument requires.

Scamps Roadshow

SCAMPS take full responsibility of timetables, enrolment and costs

Following the demonstration, we invite the interested children to take an enrolment form home to discuss lessons with their parents. If they decide to go ahead with lessons, they return the form to the school office or post it back to our head office.

Once forms have been returned to us we can schedule lessons to fit in with the school's timetable requirements. As part of the road show funding, SCAMPS take full responsibility of timetabling, enrolment and all costs associated with the set up of lessons.

Other services:

Our peripatetic services are our main focus, but we can also provide a number of different services to our schools.

We can help you with:

  • whole class tuition under the 'Wider Opportunities scheme,'
  • the delivery of your core curriculum entitlement for music
  • training and team building events for school staff on inset days.

In short, if it's to do with music and we can help, we will!

Please call us to find out more or see if we can help you with your project.

Wider Opportunity & PPA

We currently have schemes under development to help schools to deliver programs under the wider opportunities scheme, with possibility to combine this with PPA time cover.

One of the main aims of the wider opportunities scheme is to make it possible for every child in the UK to have a go at playing a musical instrument.

More funding available...

From April 2007, an increased amount of funding is available for schools to enable the delivery of music lessons as part of this scheme, (standards fund grant 116b).

Benefits of whole-class tuition...

We can help schools to use that funding to the best benefit of their students, organising and delivering whole class tuition.

Please call us for more information about wider opportunities 01252 314 640.
